What is reiki?
The word "reiki" (ray-key) is a Japanese term best translated as "spiritually guided life force energy." It is a natural therapy that gently balances life energies and brings health and well-being to the recipient. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing.
Reiki is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. It is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. Reiki is a an alternative healing modality to be used in conjunction with other natural treatments (if desired) and can be a complimentary therapy for those who also desire to seek medical treatment. |
How does reiki work?
Reiki uses extremely delicate, non-intrusive contact (laying on hands) over areas of imbalance. During a Reiki session, the gentle energy of Reiki flows through the practitioner to the recipient. This allows your own energy to balance, and that balance allows healing.
The life force is responsive to thoughts and feelings. It becomes disrupted when we accept, either consciously or unconsciously, negative thoughts or feelings about ourselves. These negative thoughts and feelings attach themselves to the energy field and cause a disruption in the flow of life force. This diminishes the vital function of the organs and cells of the physical body. Reiki allows your body, mind, and spirit to release this negative energy advocating relaxation in your mind and spirit, promoting an internal harmony within your body. When this harmony occurs, so does healing. A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. |
