Yoga is a beautiful dance between breath and movement. It invites us to transition from the outside noise and routine and step onto the four corners of our mat where the moving body becomes an expression of the soul. We find discipline, acceptance, compassion, depth, growth, and awareness through yoga. Although the physical movement of asana in yoga invites healthy transformations in our bodies, the real gift of yoga comes from the deepening awareness and growth happening in our mind and souls.
With an extensive dance and fitness background, yoga took me by surprise in its ability to deliver a full body workout, but the true revelation unfolded in the peace and stillness it offered my mind and pure joy it brought to my heart while practicing. I was able to not only find myself through yoga, but also use yoga as a tool to ground, connect and evolve through internal inquiry. As a mother of 4, yoga's ability to offer inner peace, a deepening of spiritual growth and a slower, more mindful approach off of the mat are just a few reasons I kept to the practice. Yoga held space for me to show up and put in the work to become my greatest self. It revealed astonishment for every moment offering a greater appreciation of presence. After practicing for some time, I knew deep in my heart that yoga was my calling and I wanted to pursue a deeper yoga education so I could share this beautiful experience with others.
I completed my 200 RYT yoga certification through Annie Carpenter's SmartFLOW at Yoga Sanctuary in Las Vegas under the guidance of Rachael Sellars and Angela Wright. SmartFLOW is a registered Yoga Alliance certification program that celebrates the innate intelligence of sensational, flowing movement. SmartFLOW couples classical yoga, with its rigor and discipline, to the modernity of anatomy and fluid transitions.
“Although our culture tends to shrink yoga to mean only the physical, asana element I believe that yoga truly is a shamanic path, capable of leading us through transformation on all levels. Yoga reminds us what is real, and thus who we are — the light radiating from within.” - Annie Carpenter
